Info For You
What time and where do I meet for my private Powder Program?
All private Powder Programs meet at 8:25am by the blue Private flag at the on-snow meeting area at the base of the Champion #1 chairlift in Akakura Resort.
What does the program include?
Your private instructor will guide you and your group (up to 4 people) to the most appropriate off-piste areas based on the day’s snow and weather. If the powder isn’t quite there, the session pivots to mastering the foundational movements and techniques needed for powder. This ensures you are fully prepared and confident for when the next big snowfall hits.
Do I need a lift ticket and is one included in the cost?
A valid Akakura Resort lift ticket is required for all participants. Lift tickets are not included in the lesson cost but can be purchased at the resort’s ticket office or any Myoko Snowsports front desk. Please chat with our team about what is the most appropriate lift ticket for your program based on the conditions at the time.
Can we book our family in for a Powder Program all together?
You are welcome to book a Powder Program for you and your children, however we strongly recommend all participants are of similar ski or snowboard ability (at least strong-intermediate) and experience. We also recommend everyone be aged 10 or older as powder is very challenging for younger children.
Can I book a Powder Program for one ski participant and one snowboard participant to go together?
If all skiers and snowboarders are already experienced in powder conditions this is possible, however we generally recommend booking separate programs, as terrain selection and riding speed in powder often varies for skiers and snowboarders.
What happens if there is no powder on my lesson day?
If there is no powder for the dates you have purchased lessons for, our instructors are capable of utilising what conditions we have to teach the fundamentals of powder skiing, or refining the techniques required, as well finding any remaining powder that may be hidden in the resort.
Alternatively, we can offer to adjust the date to one where there may be more fresh snow falling (dependent on availability). If none of these options work for you, we can utilise the funds for a different product or return the money paid for the lesson.
Do your instructors/guides speak English?
Yes. All our guides and instructors are either native or fluent in English and all lessons are run in English. We have a large number of instructors from around the world, as well as from Japan.
If you have a request for a private lesson in another language (Korean, Dutch, Spanish, French, Danish, Czech) please check with us for availability.
If you are interested in programs run in Japanese please let our reservations team know and they can recommend another local Japanese snowsports school to you.
Should I book in advance?
We recommend booking well before your arrival to ensure availability, particularly from the 20th of December to mid-February. Please contact our team at akakura@myokosnowsports.com if you have any questions.
