Info For You
What time and where do I meet for my private lesson?
All private lessons meet 5 minutes before the published start time by the blue flag at the on-snow meeting area at the base of the Champion #1 chairlift in Akakura Resort.
What will my lessons include each day?
On your first day your private instructor will chat with you about your current ability, skiing/snowboarding preferences and goals. They will then match each day’s session to give you the best possible experience. Private lessons are often a combination of technique development and mountain exploration. Please let your instructor know your preferences.
Will I have the same instructor each day?
Yes. We will guarantee you the same instructor each day so long as we have availability at the time of making your booking.
Where are private lessons run?
Private lessons are run throughout the combined Akakura Kanko & Akakura Onsen resort areas. If you are a strong-intermediate to expert level skier/snowboarder and interested in discovering the other resort areas around Myoko you may like to see our Multi Resort Program page.
Do I need a lift ticket and is one included in the cost of the lessons?
A valid lift pass is required for all participants. Lift tickets are not automatically included in the lesson cost, but can be purchased from Myoko Snowsports to save you time each day. Please chat to our team about what is the most appropriate lift ticket for your lesson.
Do you recommend group or private lessons?
Both group and private lessons can be great depending on your goals and budget.
Private lessons are the best for quickest skill improvement and for meeting your personal goals, but are a higher price.
Group programs are a great way to meet other skiers of a similar ability level during your program, and are a lower price.
Can I have more than one person in my private lesson, and is there an additional cost?
Private lessons can be booked for up to 4 participants as standard (or up to 6 upon request). If sharing a private lesson all participants should be of a similar ability level. All private lessons are a fixed cost – there is no additional fee for more than one person.
Can I split the time of my private lesson between me and a friend or family member?
Yes. You are welcome to use the time of a private lesson as you wish. For example you could book a Morning 4 (8:30am to 12:30pm) and split the time 2 hours for you and 2 hours for your companion. A minimum of 2 hours per person is recommended if sharing a private lesson.
Can we book a private lesson for our family to go all together?
Yes you are welcome to book a private lesson for your family, however please note that due to age and ability differences it creates a more challenging environment for learning and mountain exploration. Family private lessons are a good option when children are of a similar ability level, and adults would like to go along to see how they are progressing.
Can I book a private lesson for one ski participant and one snowboard participant to go together?
We strongly recommend booking separate private instructors for skiers and snowboarders, as each instructor needs to be on a selected set of equipment.
Do your instructors speak English?
Yes. All our instructors speak either native or fluent English and all lessons are run in English. We have a large number of instructors from around the world, as well as from Japan.
If you have a request for a private lesson in another language (Chinese, French, German, Dutch, Swedish) please check with us for availability.
If you are interested in lesson programs run in Japanese please let our reservations team know and they can recommend another local Japanese snowsports school to you.
Should I book in advance?
We recommend booking well-prior to your arrival to ensure availability, particularly from 20 December to mid-February. Please contact our team at akakura@myokosnowsports.com if you have any questions.
Is a lunch break included in the full day private lesson?
Your instructor may need brief breaks including lunch for their well-being. These breaks are essential for safety reasons to ensure that they can maintain their energy levels and continue to deliver high-quality instruction.
