Info For You
What time and where do I meet for my private Freeride/Freestyle Program?
All private Freeride/Freestyle Programs meet at 1:30pm by the blue flag at the on-snow meeting area at the base of the Champion #1 chairlift in Akakura Resort.
What does the program include?
Your private instructor/coach will check you and your group of friends or families (max 4) goals and then tailor the program to help you achieve them.
We recommend that if you have any particular requests for things you would like to do, such as primarily park or tree-skiing, please let our reservations team know when you make your reservation. This will give our team the best chance to match you with the perfect instructor. On the day, please feel free to let your instructor know any goals and they will be glad to incorporate them into the program.
Do I need a lift ticket and is one included in the cost?
A valid Akakura Resort lift ticket is required for all participants. Lift tickets are not included in the lesson cost but can be purchased at the resort’s ticket office or any Myoko Snowsports front desk. Please chat with our team about what is the most appropriate lift ticket for your program based on your aims and the conditions at the time.
Can we book our family in for a Freeride/Freestyle Program all together?
This is possible, however we strongly recommend all participants are of similar ski or snowboard ability (at least strong-intermediate) and experience. We also recommend everyone be aged 10 or older.
Can I book a Freeride/Freestyle Program for one ski participant and one snowboard participant to go together?
If all skiers and snowboarders are already experienced in the park or off-piste this is possible, however we generally don’t recommend it due to the difference in coaching needed for skiers or snowboarders, the coach will only be on one set of equipment and may not be able to assist both disciplines.
Do I need any special equipment for attending a Freeride/Freestyle Program?
We highly recommend the use of a back brace if you are intending for your program to take place in the terrain park. A helmet is mandatory for any guest partaking in a Freeride/Freestyle Program.
Can I book a Freeride/Freestyle Program for one ski participant and one snowboard participant to go together?
If all skiers and snowboarders are already experienced in the park or off-piste this is possible. However, we generally don’t recommend it due to the difference in coaching needed for skiers or snowboarders. In addition, your instructor will only be on one set of equipment and therefore may not be able to effectively assist both disciplines.
Do your instructors/guides speak English?
Yes. All our guides and instructors are either native or fluent in English and all lessons are run in English. We have a large number of instructors from around the world, as well as from Japan.
If you have a request for a private lesson in another language (Korean, Dutch, Spanish, French, Danish, Czech) please check with us for availability.
If you are interested in programs run in Japanese please let our reservations team know and they can recommend another local Japanese snowsports school to you.
Should I book in advance?
We recommend booking well before your arrival to ensure availability, particularly from the 20th of December to mid-February. Please contact our team at akakura@myokosnowsports.com if you have any questions.
