Info For You

What time and where do I meet for my private powder program?

Powder programs meet at 8:15 at the front desk to get packs and discuss a plan.
Can request an 8am start too if they have First-Class passes.

What will my my program include each day?

Intro to Powder
Our experienced coaches will teach you the fundamental techniques for safely riding in powder and off-piste snow and help you gain confidence as you explore the mountain’s terrain and experience your first powder turns.

Advanced Powder Program
Your guide will help you build upon your fundamental skills and techniques for safely skiing or snowboarding in powder and off-piste snow. They will take you to the best snow available in the current conditions whilst going over the use of avalanche equipment and how to safely travel in the mountains.

Where are private powder programs run?

Powder programs are run throughout Arai Snow Resort, and our coach will review the open terrain and run in the appropriate areas.

Do I need a lift ticket and is one included in the cost of the lessons?

A valid Arai Snow Resort lift pass is required for all participants. Lift tickets are not included in the lesson cost but are available for purchase at the resort.

Can I have more than one person in my private powder program, and is there an additional cost?

Private Powder Programs can be booked for up to 4 participants. If sharing a program all participants should be of a similar ability level. All powder programs are a fixed cost – there is no additional fee for more than one person.

Can I split the time of my powder program between me and a friend or family member?

We only recommend this if all children are aged 12 or over and all family members are of a similar ability level of high-intermediate or upward.

Can we book a powder program for our family to go all together?

You are welcome to book a Powder Program for you and your children, however we strongly recommend all participants are of similar ski or snowboard ability (at least strong-intermediate) and experience. We also recommend everyone be aged 10 or older as powder is very challenging for younger children.

Can I book a powder program for one ski participant and one snowboard participant to go together?

If all skiers and snowboarders are already experienced in powder conditions this is possible, however we generally recommend booking separate programs, as terrain selection and riding speed in powder often varies for skiers and snowboarders.

Do your guides/instructors speak English?

Yes. All our guides and instructors are either native or fluent in English and all lessons are run in English. We have a large number of instructors from around the world, as well as from Japan.

If you have a request for a private lesson in another language (Korean, Dutch, Spanish, French, Danish, Czech) please check with us for availability.

If you are interested in programs run in Japanese please let our reservations team know and they can recommend another local Japanese snowsports school to you.

Should I book in advance?

We recommend booking well before your arrival to ensure availability, particularly from the 20th of December to mid-February. Please contact our team at arai@myokosnowsports.com if you have any questions.
